Punched sheet

Perforated Metal Sheet

Sheets punched to a defined hole pattern, pitch and open area. Because the pattern is set at the design stage, the sheet can be tuned for airflow, acoustic performance or visual screening.

›Hole shape: round, square, slotted or custom
›Hole diameter: 0.5–100 mm
›Open area: 10%–70%
›Pattern: staggered 60° or straight 90°
›Sheet size: 1,000×2,000 mm or custom
›Thickness: 0.5–6.0 mm

Typical Applications

Ventilation and airflow screens

Typical configuration

Open area 40%–70%

High open area keeps the pressure drop low.

Acoustic panels and linings

Typical configuration

Round holes, staggered pattern

Open area is set by the acoustic design.

Machine guards

Typical configuration

Small holes with a protective margin

Visibility with a physical barrier.

Architectural facades and ceilings

Typical configuration

Powder coated or anodized, custom pattern

Visual screening and light control.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is open area calculated?

Open area is the proportion of the sheet that is hole, expressed as a percentage. For a staggered round-hole pattern it depends on the hole diameter and the pitch between holes. Raising the open area increases airflow but reduces sheet strength.

Why does hole size depend on sheet thickness?

A hole smaller than roughly the sheet thickness is difficult to punch cleanly, and a hole far larger than the thickness can distort the sheet. The practical ratio between hole size and thickness has to be kept within workable limits.

Which pattern is better, staggered or straight?

Staggered patterns give a higher open area for the same hole pitch and a more even appearance. Straight rows are used where the holes must line up with a fixing grid or where a specific visual effect is wanted.
